According to the amendments and additions introduced to certain legal documents, the use of water from underground layers and the rules of water consumption, violations of the limits for water extraction from underground water layers, unauthorized water extraction from underground waters, and illegal drilling into underground waters:
- will result in fines ranging from 6 to 15 times the base calculation value (from 2 million 250 thousand sum to 5 million 675 thousand sum) for citizens;
- and from 15 to 20 times the base calculation value (from 5 million 675 thousand sum to 7.5 million sum) for officials.
This excludes the general use of water by individuals for their needs, including for irrigating household land plots.
According to an addition to the Tax Code, when water is extracted from underground sources without measuring devices, the tax rate will be determined at five times the established tax rates.
This rule does not apply to individuals extracting underground water for personal and household needs up to 5 cubic meters per day on an individual basis.
This change will come into effect three months after the law is published.
