The Ministry of Health plans to cancel an order adopted in 2025. This has led some to mistakenly conclude that the electronic prescription system will be abolished. In reality, the system will continue its operation and be further developed.
The "Electronic Prescription" system has already been fully implemented in Uzbekistan and will continue to operate. The Ministry plans to apply it to all prescription-based medications.
The Ministry of Health has developed a draft decision to cancel the old document that established the procedure for implementing this system. This news led to assumptions on social networks and some media outlets that the system would be abolished.
In fact, the ministerial order adopted on December 15, 2025, was applied within the framework of a pilot project implemented in Tashkent city and certain regions.
According to the explanatory note attached to the document, the electronic prescription system has been fully implemented in the medical institutions that participated in the trial. Furthermore, the unified procedure for prescribing medications was reinforced by Cabinet of Ministers Resolution No. 570.
In this regard, the previous ministerial order has lost its practical and legal significance.
The cancellation of this order will eliminate contradictions between regulatory legal documents. In the future, the electronic prescription system will be regulated solely based on a government decision.
The new project envisions further expansion of the system. In particular, it is planned to implement electronic prescriptions for all medications requiring a prescription.
