U.S. President Donald Trump stated that Iran is "on the brink of financial collapse" and that the country is losing millions of dollars daily after the ports were blockaded by Washington.
According to him, Iran is experiencing a cash shortage and is suffering losses of approximately $500 million per day. It was also said that military personnel and police officers are complaining about the issue of salaries.
It has been reported that the U.S. naval blockade of Iranian ports began on April 13. Subsequently, a tanker flying the Iranian flag near the Strait of Hormuz was fired upon and seized. Additionally, the course of cargo ships belonging to or bound for Iran was altered in the open sea.
Iran's armed forces described these actions as "illegal" and "piracy."
In response, Iran has reportedly closed the Strait of Hormuz to foreign vessels and seized several ships. This is escalating tensions in the region.
