At the moment of launch, the Space Launch System rocket lifted into the sky with tremendous force, illuminating the entire launch area with a powerful roar and bright flash. The most dangerous part of the flight — the point of maximum aerodynamic pressure — was successfully passed 1 minute and 10 seconds after launch.
Subsequently, the rocket accelerated, leaving a bright trail over the Atlantic Ocean, and headed towards the Moon. Thousands of spectators gathered at the Kennedy Space Center witnessed this historic moment, while specialists celebrated the result of years of work.
The crew consists of Reid Wiseman, Victor J. Glover, Christina Koch, and Jeremy Hansen. Their mission will take humans to a distance close to the Moon for the first time since 1972.
This flight is being assessed as the most significant stage since Apollo 17. According to experts, the Artemis program could pave the way for sending humans to Mars in the future.
