According to research, this fossil named "Little Foot" lived approximately 3.7 million years ago. It was discovered in 1980 in a cave in South Africa.
The find was initially named "Little Foot" because only small foot bones were identified, but later an almost complete skeleton, which had been stuck to the cave wall, was found. It took scientists nearly 15 years to separate it from the stone.
Scientists from the University of Poitiers in France, led by paleoanthropologist Amélie Beaudet, used computer modeling to reconstruct the skull and create its probable facial appearance.
The find has been determined to belong to the Australopithecus group, but its specific species has not yet been identified.
