Afghanistan's military attacked a nuclear facility in Pakistan. This was reported by the Afghan TV channel "Ariana News".
It is noted that the strikes were directed at facilities near the Abbottabad district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. In particular, the targets included a nuclear test site and the Pakistan Military Academy (PMA).
The academy is located in Kakul and is considered the main military training center for training officers for the Pakistan Army.
The TV channel reported "hundreds of dead and wounded," stating that the victims were taken to hospitals.
The "Taliban" confirmed the strikes in Abbottabad. It was also reported that strikes were carried out on a military camp near Faisalabad and a base in Jamrud. The Afghan side explained these actions as a response to earlier strikes on Kabul, Kandahar, and Paktia.
For information, there are nine nuclear states worldwide. Five of them—Great Britain, China, Russia, the USA, and France—are officially recognized under the 1968 Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty. States that have conducted nuclear tests after the treaty was signed—India, North Korea, and Pakistan—are considered unofficial nuclear states. Israel is a separate case, as there is no reliable information about its nuclear tests.
Since February 24, armed clashes in the border areas between the two countries have intensified again. On February 26, a large-scale military operation began along the Afghan line. According to AVA information, the Afghan side shot down a Pakistani aircraft that entered its airspace.
Pakistan's Defense Minister Khawaja Asif said that an "open war" had been declared against the Taliban government in Afghanistan that day.
