Today, on January 26, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Chairman of the National Olympic Committee Shavkat Mirziyoyev participated in the 46th General Assembly of the Olympic Council of Asia and presented the National Olympic Committee's "Honor" Order to Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, who was elected as the President of the Olympic Council of Asia.
The Olympic Council of Asia was established in 1982 and coordinates the Olympic movement in the Asian continent. Currently, the national Olympic committees of 45 countries are members of the organization. Within the framework of this General Assembly, the main directions of the Asian Olympic movement were determined, and Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani, President of the Qatar Olympic Committee, was elected to the position of President of the Council.
The event was attended by leaders of the International Olympic Committee, the Olympic Council of Asia, WADA, international sports federations, and representatives of other influential sports organizations.
