"Bekzod Zafarov, the son of Bakhtiyor Kudratullayev, known by the nickname 'The Thief in Law — Bakhti Tashkentsky,' gave an interview for the 'Last Regret' program announced by the MIA.

If you recall, by a court verdict on July 19, 2024, Bakhtiyor Kudratullayev was found guilty on more than 40 episodes under 7 articles of the Criminal Code and sentenced to 20 years, while his sons — Ixtiyor Kudratullayev was sentenced to 9 years, and Bekzod Zafarov to 11 years of imprisonment.

The Ministry of Internal Affairs presented to the public an interview given by the convict, who has been behind bars for over two years, to the media. In the interview, Bekzod Zafarov spoke about having had naive dreams of following in his father's profession.

"I used to dream of taking my father's paths, of taking up his very profession. Now I understand that all those thoughts were a big mistake," he says.

The convict mentioned during the interview that it has been a year since he arrived at the colony and that he has been overseeing household work and construction there. He added that the rest of the time he goes to work at a production enterprise, where he also does welding and works with iron and wood.

"My life now is quite different from my life a year ago. Here, whether you are Bekzod, Bek, or whoever you are, the law is the same for everyone. I urge everyone not to follow the well-known figures of the criminal world, the criminal world itself. There is absolutely no benefit in that. Let a person be of service to the people, to parents, to the neighborhood, to society. That's what I have come to understand," said Bekzod Zafarov.

The convict said he misses his family and children:

"When you are imprisoned and face hardship, you understand what you have lost. I have two children. My older son will start school next year. He said, 'Come quickly, I missed you.' Those words still don't leave my mind. When I close my eyes at night, my children, my family come in and out of my dreams. Remembering my own time starting school, I regret that I cannot take my son to first grade, to his first bell, that I cannot participate in parent-teacher meetings. It pains a person that I cannot be a good example for my children, a reliable mountain they can lean on. I regret these things. I cannot see my daughter starting to talk, her various sweet antics appearing. I am missing these things. Family is sacred."

"I have come to understand that eating a piece of bread with your family on the street is a thousand times better than eating food in prison where your dishes are made of tin," the convict said during the conversation.
