The "Dunyo" IA reports that diplomats from the Consulate General of Uzbekistan carried out another consular visit to the "Marmara" closed-type women's penitentiary institution located in the Siverek district of Turkey.

During the visit to the institution, conversations were held with citizens of Uzbekistan held in prison for crimes committed in Turkey. Information was obtained about their condition, the conditions of serving their sentences were studied, and necessary consular and legal assistance was provided.

During a previous visit, our compatriots had requested literature in the Uzbek language. For this reason, through the initiative of the Consulate General and with the assistance of the Committee for Family and Women of Uzbekistan and the "Asahi" and "Hilol Nashr" publishing houses, a collection of over 100 educational, scientific, religious, and popular books brought from Uzbekistan was presented to the institution's library.

During the visit, the living conditions, food supply, access to medical services, and the procedure for telephone communication with close relatives of Uzbek citizens held in the pre-trial detention center were studied.

During individual conversations with the citizens, the problems troubling them were identified, and explanations were given regarding their rights and freedoms, as well as the obligations established by Turkish legislation.

Following the results of the visit, the Consulate General will take appropriate measures to address the identified problems and shortcomings.
