At least two local residents were killed as a result of an explosion of explosive remnants of war in Afghanistan's Kunar province, which is under the control of the Taliban. The provincial police department reported this.

It is reported that in the village of Mazar Dara in the Nurgal district, a child died and six people sustained various bodily injuries as a result of an explosion of an artillery shell left over from the war. Also, local sources reported that in a similar incident that occurred in the Asmar district, one woman was killed and two people were injured.

According to police information, the explosion in the Nurgal district occurred on January 6 in the house of one of the citizens. The explosion recorded in the Asmar district also occurred on the same day. The injured were hospitalized and are currently undergoing treatment under the supervision of doctors.

It is noted that explosive remnants of war in Afghanistan pose a serious threat to the population, especially to the lives of children.

According to data from the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF), at least 55 people become victims of explosions of explosive materials in the country every month. 85 percent of them are children.
