In recent days, heavy snow has covered many areas of Europe. In southwestern France, three people were killed and 15 injured as a result of road traffic accidents that occurred on January 6. Around Paris, two more people died due to car accidents.
Earlier, on the evening of January 5, a driver fell into the Marne River with his car and died in the hospital, and another person was killed in a collision with a truck.
In the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Sarajevo, a woman died after being struck by a tree branch.
According to "Euronews," nearly 600 flights were canceled in one day at Amsterdam's Schiphol Airport. This was due to the need to clear runways and de-ice aircraft. Meteorologists expect the snowfall to continue throughout the week.
Severe cold was also recorded in the northern regions of Great Britain — the air temperature dropped to minus 12.5 degrees at night.
The snowfall has negatively impacted rail, road, and air travel, causing hundreds of schools to close.
