The Press Service of the Ministry of Internal Affairs reports that a criminal group that had been extorting money from citizens through various forms of violence and threats in the Denov district of the Surkhandarya region has been detained.
The group's leader is a citizen born in 1990, who had previously been convicted under the article "Hooliganism." He hired 3 individuals as executors and victimized more than 10 citizens. They intimidated citizens with threats and violence over land issues, debt transactions, and other matters, demanding money.
It was established that among the victims, 20 million soums were demanded from a citizen born in 1987, 10 million soums from a citizen born in 2006, and approximately 39.8 thousand US dollars from a citizen born in 2008. They threatened with knives and video recordings, forced them into immoral acts, and intimidated them with dissemination.
Currently, a criminal case has been initiated against the members of the organized criminal group under articles such as extortion, kidnapping, and deprivation of liberty through violence, and investigative actions are ongoing.
