At the meeting held in Tokyo, issues of deepening the Uzbekistan-Japan strategic partnership and advancing major joint projects were discussed.

On December 19, within the framework of his official visit to Japan, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Japan's Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Ryosei Akazawa.

The meeting focused on expanding trade and investment cooperation, developing industrial cooperation, and implementing joint projects. The head of state noted that in recent years, Japan's direct investments in the economy of Uzbekistan have increased significantly. In particular, the number of joint ventures has increased tenfold, and the value of projects has exceeded 20 billion dollars.

The parties emphasized the importance of deepening cooperation in the fields of alternative energy, decarbonization, and critical raw materials. An agreement was also reached to develop a program for establishing an intergovernmental commission on trade and economic cooperation and expanding business ties with the participation of JETRO and ROTOBO.
