The first Central Asia-Japan summit is planned to be held in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, on December 19-20 of this year. The "Nippon" publication reported this.
It is reported that Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi is also considering holding bilateral meetings with the leaders of Central Asian countries ahead of the summit. The plan was announced by Liberal Democratic Party Vice President Taro Aso at a meeting in parliament.
The summit will be attended by the leaders of Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, and Turkmenistan. Through this meeting, Tokyo aims to strengthen diplomatic and economic ties with the region, as well as to balance the influence of global powers.
It was recalled that a summit planned for August 2024 in Japan was canceled due to the risk of a mega earthquake. This time, however, protocol and security preparations for the visiting delegations have begun.
During the summit, discussions on regional security, trade, and investment opportunities are expected to take place. Tokyo evaluates this event as an important step towards taking cooperation with Central Asia to a new level.
