The "Qorasuv" reservoir, located in the Payariq district of the Samarkand region, is observed to have dried up. With a capacity of 26.9 million cubic meters of water, the reservoir normally provided irrigation for 8,100 hectares of land.

According to data, in May 2019, nearly 42.1 million cubic meters of water had accumulated in the reservoir. However, satellite images show that the reservoir is now effectively without water.

According to ecologists, this situation is linked to excessive water consumption during the irrigation season, a sharp rise in air temperature, and a decrease in the number of rainy days.
