President Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of Saudi Arabian companies led by Muhammad Abunayyan, Chairman of ACWA Power and Co-Chairman of the Uzbekistan-Saudi Arabia Business Council.
The parties discussed issues of further expanding practical cooperation and accelerating priority joint projects. The head of state noted with great satisfaction the effective and rapidly developing cooperation with ACWA Power, which is considered a strategic investor in Uzbekistan's "green" energy sector.
Today, a ceremony was held to launch several joint projects: 4 wind power plants with a total capacity of 752 megawatts were connected to the power grid, and construction began on 5 power plants with a total capacity of 2.3 gigawatts in the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Bukhara region, as well as a 300-megawatt energy storage system.
In addition, construction began on a 500-kilovolt power transmission line with a total length of 1790 kilometers, connecting Samarkand region with Tashkent region and the Republic of Karakalpakstan with Bukhara region.
During the meeting, special attention was paid to advancing cooperation projects in modernizing energy and transport infrastructure, developing information and communication technologies, healthcare, agriculture, and other fields.
