After the victory achieved in the Al Ain Cup final with a 0:0 draw against Iran and (4:3) on penalties, Fabio Cannavaro shared his thoughts at a press conference.
According to his emphasis, the match was very difficult: "You can never relax against Iran. We controlled the game in the first half, created good opportunities, but couldn't score a goal. After the red card, the situation became more difficult, but our players stood firm mentally and didn't give the opponent a chance," said the coach.
Cannavaro noted his satisfaction with the atmosphere in the team and the players' mindset: "I have hope, I have intelligent players. They are enjoying the training sessions. There isn't much time left until the World Cup, but we must become even stronger physically."
The coach also touched upon the nutritionist who joined the national team: "He helps us, but victory doesn't depend solely on his arrival."
Regarding penalty practice: "We worked on penalties, I identified which players are good at taking them. Today, that paid off."
He also shared his thoughts on the player Oston O'runov: "His talent is high, but problems seem to appear after 45 minutes. I expect consistent play from him."
Cannavaro announced that a training camp with the participation of local players will be held in January, and that great attention will be paid to the youth.
