The Iranian government has launched "cloud seeding" operations to induce artificial rainfall amid prolonged drought conditions.

It is reported that this is the first time such an experiment has been conducted during the current season in the basin of Lake Urmia, located in the country's northwest.

It is noted that Lake Urmia, considered Iran's largest lake, has almost dried up due to drought and has turned into a vast salty area.

The government plans to implement cloud seeding practices in other provinces as well to slow down this process.
