The participants of the seventh Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia taking place in Tashkent — President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, President of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon, President of Kyrgyzstan Sadyr Japarov, and President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev — visited the Center of Islamic Civilization accompanied by President Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
The complex, established on the initiative of the President of Uzbekistan, is considered the first complex to combine the heritage of Islamic civilization, scientific research, and educational directions. The Center was built combining the national architectural style and modern solutions.
The leaders familiarized themselves with the sections housing the Holy Quran of Uthman, "Civilizations before Islam", "The First Renaissance", "The Second Renaissance", and "New Uzbekistan – a New Renaissance". They showcased the rich heritage of scholars such as Imam Bukhari, Imam Termizi, Moturidi, Bahouddin Naqshband, as well as manuscripts from the periods of various dynasties.
During the visit, the leaders noted the importance of strengthening cultural cooperation in the region, preserving the common heritage, and supporting educational projects.
