The bridge is located on a vital highway connecting the country's central regions with the Tibet Autonomous Region.

According to reports, the Markang city authorities completely stopped traffic one day in advance after cracks and landslides were detected on the mountain slopes near the bridge.

Because of this, no one was harmed during the incident.
