UNESCO Deputy Director-General Xing Qu (Hing Xu) and the Chairperson of the National Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan for UNESCO, the Chairperson of the Fund for the Development of Culture and Arts of Uzbekistan, the Head of the Department for Creative Economy and Tourism of the Presidential Administration Gayane Umerova delivered congratulatory speeches.
Gayane Umerova, elected to chair the meeting, emphasized in her speech the symbolic significance of Samarkand as a crossroads of civilizations and noted the importance of renewing the spirit of partnership and solidarity established by UNESCO.
The morning program consisted of two sessions on the topic. The first was dedicated to expanding the rights and opportunities of youth and their role in promoting peace, human rights, social inclusion and education for sustainable development. The discussion featured participants from UNESCO, as well as representatives of the national commissions of Germany, Canada and Kenya.
The second discussion panel was dedicated to the interaction of cultures and communities in the digital age, focusing on cultural heritage, sustainable tourism and the Silk Road directions. Among the speakers were representatives of UNESCO and the national commissions of France, Curaçao and Uzbekistan.
