Within the framework of the 80th session of the UN General Assembly, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy and Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting. This was the first meeting between the leaders of the two states since the start of the Russia–Ukraine war.
In his post-meeting statement, Zelenskyy noted that discussions were held on the efforts of Ukraine, the US, Europe, and other partners on the path to stopping the war and saving people's lives. Attention was also drawn to the issue of benefiting from the participation of Kazakh companies in the process of restoring Ukraine's economy. Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to Kazakhstan for supporting the country's sovereignty and territorial integrity.
In his statement, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev emphasized the need to continue diplomatic efforts aimed at finding ways to eliminate the source of conflict.
