On Monday, September 16th, U.S. President Donald Trump and his wife Melania Trump made their second state visit to the United Kingdom.
This visit is set to enter history books, as Trump becomes the first foreign politician in modern history to make two state visits.
The President and the First Lady are spending the first day of the visit at Windsor Castle in Berkshire.
According to the schedule, Trump will meet with King Charles III and participate in ceremonies on the palace grounds, including a grand ceremony, a procession with mounted military personnel, an artillery salute, a flypast, and a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
On September 18th, Trump will meet with British Prime Minister Keir Starmer at the Chequers estate. Talks, a reception for business representatives, and a joint press conference are planned.
The visit is taking place under heightened security conditions—police, drones, snipers, and river patrols have been deployed.
Protests are also expected during the visit. The "Stop Trump Coalition" movement has planned demonstrations in London and Windsor. Police costs could exceed the £14.2 million spent in 2019.
