Today, on September 8th at 16:00, the trial of religious scholar and blogger, founder of the "Azon Global" information-analytical portal, Mubashshir Ahmad (Alisher Tursunov), continued at the Uchtepa district court of Tashkent city on criminal cases. This was reported by "Azon Global".
It was noted that a number of public representatives, journalists, and close relatives of Mubashshir Ahmad had gathered in front of the courthouse to attend. Those entering the court were asked to surrender audio recording, video recording equipment, and mobile phones.
The previous court session, held on August 19th of this year, was postponed to September 8th due to the absence of witnesses. Despite this, the witnesses who participated in the second court session also could not provide sufficient evidence for the charges being brought.
According to initial information, for this reason, the charge of "inciting inter-ethnic conflict" has been dropped from the list of charges brought against Mubashshir Ahmad. In turn, the claim of one of the witnesses was also dismissed.
"Unfortunately, the court session has been postponed again and will continue on September 15th. This is stated to be due to a lack of time to question the teacher (ustoz)", — the report says.
For information, a criminal case has been initiated against Alisher Tursunov under Article 244-1 (preparation, storage, distribution or display of materials threatening public safety and public order) and Article 244-3 (illegal preparation, storage, import or distribution of materials of a religious nature) of the Criminal Code, and a detention measure has been applied.
