Uzbekistan and Japan have launched strategic dialogue.

The first meeting of the strategic dialogue between the Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and Japan took place in Tashkent.

On August 27, during his official visit to Uzbekistan on August 26-27 of this year, Japan's Minister for Foreign Affairs, Takeshi Iwaya, held his first meeting in the form of a strategic dialogue with his Uzbek counterpart, Bakhtiyor Saidov, in Tashkent.

The meeting discussed issues of expanding long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation in a number of areas, including politics, security, economics, innovation, education, healthcare, energy, transport and logistics, culture, and people-to-people ties.

The statement noted that both sides expressed their readiness to strengthen investment partnership, introduce Japanese technologies to Uzbekistan, and diversify trade and economic relations.

The ministers also emphasized mutual support for enhancing cooperation within the framework of international organizations, particularly on the expansion of the UN Security Council. Within the framework of the dialogue, the "C5+1" format was also recognized as an effective regional platform.

During his visit, Takeshi Iwaya also met with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev and conveyed greetings from Japan's Prime Minister Yoshihide Suga, as well as a congratulatory message on the occasion of Independence Day.

The strategic dialogue meetings are planned to be held once every two years, alternately in Tashkent and Tokyo.
