On the occasion of the Independence Day, 523 convicts were pardoned based on a Presidential decree. 8 of them are foreign citizens.

According to the decree signed by the President of Uzbekistan, 523 individuals were pardoned on the eve of the Independence Day. Of those pardoned, nearly 200 were fully released, while the sentences of the others were reduced or mitigated.

According to official information, among the pardoned there are also 8 foreigners, including citizens of Tajikistan and Sierra Leone.

The pardon was carried out based on the principles of humanism, justice, and social reintegration.
