A protest was held near the Brandenburg Gate in Berlin by Germany's Society for the Protection of Affected Peoples and Ukrainian human rights activists.

The demonstrations took place ahead of the Putin-Trump summit in Alaska.

During the event, activists wearing masks of the U.S. and Russian presidents staged a "negotiation" scene, implying that Washington would recognize Russia's annexation of Crimea.

One of the protest organizers, Sarah Reinke, said, "Trump's hastily drafted deal at Ukraine's expense only benefits Putin."

According to her, withdrawing from Ukrainian territory would betray the memory of the victims and leave the occupied population under Russian rule.
