An official delegation from the State Security Service of Uzbekistan (SSS), led by its chairman Bahodir Kurbanov, visited Kabul, the capital of Afghanistan, on July 22. The delegation met here with Mullah Muhammad Yaqoob, the acting Minister of National Defense of the Taliban movement.

According to an official Taliban release, the Uzbek side expressed satisfaction with the "security situation and economic development" in Afghanistan during the meeting. Discussions reportedly included border cooperation and the development of bilateral relations.

Apart from Kurbanov, the meeting was also attended by SSS Deputy Chairman Farrukh Mukhtorov and Border Troops Commander Salimjon Khasanov.

The Taliban press service highlighted the Uzbek government's "positive stance in international arenas" and emphasized that relations between the two countries are "expanding."

Meanwhile, neither the Uzbek side nor other independent sources have yet provided details about the meeting.

It should be noted that Uzbekistan is one of the few countries that has maintained contact with the Taliban after they came to power and has taken a relatively neutral position on the Afghan issue.
