As part of the military cooperation between Russia and Laos, the state of Laos will send its soldiers to the Kursk region of Russia. According to official information, Laotian soldiers will participate in mine clearance operations. This will free up local resources of the Russian army and direct the main forces straight to the war in Ukraine, writes "zamon.uz".

After North Korea, Laos has emerged as the next state to openly support Russia. Laos has been under communist governance since 1975 and has close political relations with Russia. This decision could provoke serious objections in the international community, as it affects the balance of forces in the Ukrainian conflict.

The primary task of the Laotian military will be to secure the infrastructure surroundings in the Kursk region. According to officials, they will not be involved in combat actions but will instead focus on technical works in the rear front. However, this allows Russia to mobilize additional military forces at the frontline.

This move is also seen as an attempt by Russia to break out of international isolation. Military experts consider such initiatives to not only provide technical assistance to Russia but also to enable certain countries to clearly show their positions. How the UN and other international organizations will evaluate this step remains unknown.
