North Korean leader Kim Jong Un received the body of a North Korean soldier who died in Russia with a military ceremony at Pyongyang airport. Kim personally participated in the ceremony held with military ranks lined up, which shows the DPRK leadership's attention to fallen soldiers. This was reported by Zamon.uz.
Yesterday, on June 30, state television broadcasted footage showing Kim Jong Un kneeling in front of the coffin covered with a flag, shedding tears. This ceremony was held on June 29 at the East Pyongyang Grand Theatre on the occasion of the first anniversary of the strategic partnership agreement with Russia.
During the event, videos about North Korean soldiers sent to Russia were displayed on a large screen. The participation of Kim's daughter Chu Ae and sister Kim Yo Jong in the ceremony signifies the Kim dynasty's personal honouring of the soldiers' memory. However, the fact that only 4-5 coffins were shown while it is stated that more than 4,700 soldiers died on the Kursk front indicates the symbolic nature of the ceremony.
In addition, for the first time on television, Kim Jong Un signing the plan for the "Liberation operation of Kursk" was shown. Simultaneously, it was announced that North Korea plans to send about 6,000 more military engineers and builders to Russia in July-August.
