The General Presidency for the Affairs of the Grand Mosque (Masjid al-Haram) and the Prophet's Mosque (Masjid an-Nabawi) in Saudi Arabia announced on the evening of June 25 that the replacement of the Kaaba's kiswah was carried out by a group of 154 specialists informed.
The replacement process, which involved the use of 47 new pieces with a total weight of 1415 kg, lasted several hours.
Approximately 825 kg of pure silk, 180 kg of silver, and gold were used for the new kiswah.
The old kiswah, replaced by the new one, is washed with Zamzam spring water before being sent to museums for exhibition in Islamic countries.
The Kaaba's kiswah is embellished with verses from the Quran using silver and gold.
