According to the latest research conducted by scientists at Australia's Flinders University, the Daily Express publication reported.
During a study involving more than 72,000 people, it was discovered that frequent nighttime awakenings are associated with an increase in blood pressure and an increased risk of hypertension. This situation is particularly more common among overweight men.
Experts emphasize that 15 percent of the organized group remained awake for more than 20 percent of the night, and this condition increased their risk of persistent hypertension — the risk of stroke, heart failure, heart, and kidney diseases.
“If you consistently sleep badly for 5–6 days a week, it already turns into a chronic problem, and it can be life-threatening,” — warns Dr. Leshat.
