The tragedy occurred in the state of Uttarakhand in India on Sunday morning. The helicopter flying from Kedarnath to Guptkashi belonged to the private company Aryan Airlines.
According to Times of India, adverse weather conditions could be the cause of the accident. Rescue services and police are operating at the site of the incident.
The State's Chief Minister, Pushkar Singh Dhami, expressed his condolences:
"We received the very saddening news about the helicopter crash. The local authorities and rescue teams are participating in the search and rescue operations".
This is not the first helicopter crash in the region in the past weeks. Officials plan to intensify control over the technical condition of the aircraft and their flight conditions.
On June 12, an Air India passenger plane carrying 242 people crashed into a medical college building in the city of Ahmadabad, India. Only one person survived.
Air India has promised compensation of 10 million rupees (approximately 117 thousand dollars) to the families of the victims and assistance to the injured person.
