Ukraine has taken away the bodies of more than a thousand soldiers from Russia.

Since the start of the war, Russia and Ukraine have carried out more than 80 exchanges of prisoners.

Ukraine has received back the bodies of 1,212 soldiers killed during the wars from Russia. This was reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta reported.

It was reported that among the returned military, there are those who died during combat operations in the regions of Kursk, Kharkov, Zaporizhzhia, Kherson, Donetsk, and Luhansk.

The return process was carried out with the help of the International Red Cross Committee, and Ukraine has expressed its gratitude to the committee for the assistance in the process. In the coming days, the bodies of the deceased are planned to be handed over to representatives of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Health of Ukraine for forensic medical examination. 

“Investigators of law enforcement agencies and expert institutions of the Ministry of Internal Affairs will collaborate to identify the deceased as quickly as possible,” the report says. 

A representative of the parliamentary coordination group for military operations, State Duma deputy Shamsail Saraliev, confirmed to RBC publication that the bodies had been handed over to the Ukrainian side.

“I confirm. Today, the process of handing over the bodies indeed took place,” he said.

It is noted that the Ukrainian side has delayed the handover of the bodies of Russian soldiers for some time.
