Five Uzbekistani men were arrested in Tokyo, the capital of Japan, on suspicion of committing a crime. This was reported by the Tokyo Reporter.

According to reports, since the end of 2023, they are suspected of committing several crimes in the Shibuya and Shinjuku regions.

On December 30, in the Shibuya district, 21-year-old Hasanboy Dusmatov and his four accomplices attacked three foreigners. Dusmatov kicked one of them in the face and stole bags and wallets with a total value of 210,000 yen (about $1,400).

The police detained them on charges of robbery and inflicting bodily harm. Dusmatov is not giving instructions to the investigators yet. The other four suspects deny the charges.

Four of the detainees, including Dusmatov, were found to have been illegally residing in Japan. Police have indicated that they may have been involved in robbery, targeting people sleeping on the street.

They are also suspected of earning 8 million yen (over $55,000) by purchasing iPhones using stolen credit cards and selling them.

According to investigators, Dusmatov led a criminal group. He sent orders via Telegram about the timing of crimes.
