The Abu Dhabi Civil Family Court issued an unprecedented decision in a divorce case. The amount of the compensation within the financial settlement constituted 100 million dirhams (over 27 million dollars) formed. This is an absolute record for the Gulf countries.

This marriage was formalized in Great Britain, and the couple applied to the Abu Dhabi court for a divorce. The court considered the application in less than three weeks, in a single session, based on Civil Marriage Law No. 14 enacted in 2021.

This law regulates family relationships among non-Muslim expatriates. It includes no-fault divorce, will making, and inheritance issues. The financial agreement was reached with the participation of one of the leading legal firms in the United Kingdom.

The Abu Dhabi Civil Family Court remains the only court in the region that operates in both Arabic and English languages. The court staff have been trained according to British legal standards.
