The UK government has announced a new sanctions package against Russia. According to them, punitive measures will be taken against approximately 100 Russian vessels used for oil transportation to circumvent sanctions, the British government's website reports.
The statement says that the "shadow fleet" organized by Putin's entourage not only finances the illegal Kremlin war in Ukraine but also damages important national infrastructure.
In the case of Great Britain, "99 percent of international telecommunications data and vital energy sources" are transmitted through underwater infrastructure.
Russia's "shadow fleet" usually includes old and uninsured tankers and land cargo ships. These ships are increasingly accused of attacking underwater infrastructure.
