The European Union has transferred 1 billion euros to Kyiv from the income derived from the frozen assets of the Russian Federation as part of its financial assistance for Ukraine. This was announced by Valdis Dombrovskis, the Vice-President of the European Commission in charge of the economy, on his social media page, according to zamon.uz.
“Today, we have transferred another 1 billion euros to Ukraine from the 45 billion euros of income generated from Russia's frozen assets within the framework of seven programs,” — he wrote.
This aid package is part of the financial mechanisms being applied by the European Union within the framework of sanctions against Russia. Directing revenues from frozen assets towards the interests of Ukraine is becoming an increasingly widespread practice among Western countries.
The allocated funds are planned to be spent on restoring Ukraine's energy infrastructure, covering military and humanitarian needs, as well as ensuring economic stability.
