US President Donald Trump officially declared May 8 as Victory Day in World War II. His official statement was published on the White House website.
Trump said that if it weren't for American soldiers, it would be impossible to win the war, and today's world would be completely different.
"We respectfully remember every person who sacrificed their life for freedom, the country, and Western civilization," Trump said.
In addition, on May 2, he announced on his Truth Social page that November 11 and May 8 would be declared Victory Days in the First and Second World Wars.
According to him, the US contributed more to the victory in the war than any other country.
