India banned the import of goods coming from Pakistan or passing through its territory. Reuters reported this.
The General Directorate of Foreign Trade of India announced that the ban would take effect immediately. Pakistani ships are also not allowed to enter the country.
This restriction was adopted to protect the interests of India, public safety, and cargo transportation infrastructure, the report says.
Pakistan had previously suspended all border trade and closed its airspace to Indian airlines.
For information, relations between the two countries deteriorated after the terrorist attack in Kashmir on April 22 of this year. Several armed individuals opened fire on locals and tourists near the city of Pahalgam. As a result, 25 Indian citizens and one Nepalese citizen died.
The Resistance Front group, associated with the terrorist organization "Lashkari Taiba," claimed responsibility for the attack. India linked the attack to Pakistan. The accused state categorically denied any involvement with the attackers.
After this, India took decisive measures against Pakistan. In particular, the land checkpoint of Attari has been closed. Pakistanis were instructed to leave the country.
