“In Uzbekistan, under the leadership of President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, ensuring freedom of thought, guaranteeing the right to receive and disseminate information is considered an important and integral part of our development strategy. This strategy is aimed at protecting human interests, building an open and fair society where the state serves the people oriented.
Despite the growing global threats, we are continuing to strengthen democratic institutions. In the context of political and economic instability in the world, the intensification of conflicts, and the increase of disinformation, Uzbekistan remains committed to creating necessary conditions for the development of journalism, impartial dialogue, and diversity of opinions.
Regrettably, it must be acknowledged that even in countries traditionally considered bastions of democracy, the idea of freedom of speech often finds itself under the pressure of political, commercial, or ideological interests. We are witnessing the replacement of open journalism with biased approaches, and the principle of "freedom of speech" is gradually losing its true value. According to analyses by international organizations, the world situation in 2025 marking for the first time as "complex" indicates the increasingly deteriorating condition in the field.
Therefore, it is particularly important in our society to maintain and develop an environment where the professional work of journalists is respected, facts and integrity are valued, and communication is based on openness.
Today, we express our deep gratitude to journalists, bloggers, editors, operators, technical staff - everyone who serves the cause of education and sharing information, and impartial coverage of events every day”.
