Russian leader Vladimir Putin proposed ending the conflict with Ukraine along the current front line. This was reported by the Financial Times.
It is noted that the President of Russia proposed to cease hostilities on the current line in order to reach a peace agreement with US leader Donald Trump.
Also, at a meeting with Donald Trump's special representative, Stephen Whitkoff, in St. Petersburg in early April of this year, Vladimir Putin stated that Moscow is ready to relinquish claims in the four regions that remain under Kyiv's control.
He only proposed retaining the territories currently controlled by Russia.
However, if the US agrees to Russia's key geopolitical demands in the Kremlin, the Russian President is ready to abandon the demand for full control in the Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson, and Zaporizhzhia regions.
For example, if the US recognizes Russian control over Crimea and does not allow Ukraine to join NATO.
"Difficult work is being carried out. We are negotiating with the Americans. This work is difficult and time-consuming, therefore it is difficult to expect immediate results. Moreover, these negotiations cannot be conducted openly," Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.
Trump wants to reach an agreement between Russia and Ukraine by April 30. Through this, he intends to announce that he has carried out a peacekeeping mission for the first 100 days of his presidency.
