England's Manchester United club has decided to dismiss head coach Ruben Amorim from his position. Insider Fabrizio Romano reported this. The information was also confirmed by The Athletic journalist David Ornstein.
According to Romano, the decision was made in the early hours of January 5th. Ornstein writes that former Manchester United footballer Darren Fletcher will be appointed as the team's interim head coach.
For reference, Ruben Amorim has been managing Manchester United since November 2024. Prior to this, he worked at Lisbon's Sporting club, leading the team to the Portuguese championship.
