The International Boxing Association (IBA) announced its official decision regarding the controversial episode that occurred between Abdumalik Khalokov and Vsevolod Shumkov in the final of the 60 kg weight category at the World Boxing Championships held in Dubai.

After expert analysis, it was announced that the competition result would remain unchanged.

According to IBA Secretary General and CEO Chris Roberts, the episode was assessed in real-time, and the final decision was made by the technical delegate. Video analysis showed that Shumkov's mouth accidentally touched Khalokov's ear, and the situation did not affect the fight.

Although there could have been a breach of the rules, the referees indicated there was no need for intervention. Since the Uzbekistan delegation did not file an appeal during the competition, no legal basis was found to change the result.

At the same time, the situation may be subject to additional review by the IBA to ensure transparency.
