Three people died as a result of carbon monoxide poisoning caused by the illegal connection of a homemade heating stove in the Khodjeyli district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan.
According to the district administration's press service, the tragedy occurred on December 13 in a rented house located on Fakhriylar Street in the "Samankul" neighborhood of the Kamishsholi residential area in Khodjeyli district.
It is noted that a citizen A.Zh., living in this house, arbitrarily moved a homemade heating stove to another room to heat the household and illegally connected it to the gas network without a chimney.
As a result, smoke — carbon monoxide — accumulated in the room due to gas combustion, poisoning citizen A.Zh. and his two grandchildren. Consequently, A.S. (born in 2011, an 8th-grade student), A.Q. (born in 2015, a 4th-grade student), and citizen A.Zh. died at the scene.
It is reported that the district administration is providing social assistance to the family members of the deceased. Pre-investigation checks are currently being carried out regarding the incident.
