On December 9, 2025, on the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan, President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev announced an amnesty. Based on the decree "On pardoning persons who have served their sentence, repented of their actions, and firmly embarked on the path of correction," it was decided to release 615 convicts.
Of the pardoned persons, 220 were fully released, 123 were conditionally released, 97 had their sentence commuted to a lighter form of punishment, and the sentences of 175 were reduced. Among the pardoned are women, young people, and men over 60 years of age.
Furthermore, in accordance with the execution of the decree, responsible ministries and agencies were given instructions to provide assistance to the pardoned persons in adapting to social life and engaging in useful labor.
