During archaeological research carried out in the territory of the Kanka monument located in the Tashkent region, a place of worship and fragments of metal utensils dating back to the 5th-8th centuries were found. This was reported by the Institute of History of the Academy of Sciences.

The work is being carried out as part of preparations for the creation of the Kanka "open-air museum". The monument is considered one of the most important centers of ancient Turan and is often linked by researchers to Kangdesh mentioned in the Avesta and the ancient Kangdez in the Shahnameh.

The finds were discovered by specialists from the "Center for Military History" and the "Ancient World History" department while studying the lower area of the fortress. According to archaeologists, the fragments of utensils might have been brought to the place of worship as ceremonial gifts - in ancient times, there was a tradition of leaving the best items they made here. Such instances were previously noted, particularly, in the Baikent place of worship.

According to specialists, the find is of particular importance for studying the military culture of the Turkic peoples. Kanka is not confirming this for the first time: in 2021, horse burials were found at the entrance to the place of worship, and the new artifacts indicate a high level of military craftsmanship and religious practices of their time.
