The UK's Royal Navy monitored the Russian diesel-electric submarine "Novorossiysk" passing through the English Channel on October 7-9.
Subsequently, the Dutch Ministry of Defense reported that the submarine was being towed in the North Sea.
Russia's Black Sea Fleet denied claims that the issues with the submarine were due to technical problems. An official statement emphasized that it was operating on the surface in accordance with the rules for passing through the English Channel.
NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, however, commented on the situation jokingly, comparing it to "looking for a nearby workshop" from the novel "The Hunt for Red October."
He added that Russia's naval forces in the Mediterranean Sea have almost disappeared.
According to information provided by the VChK-OGPU Telegram channel, a fuel leak was detected on the submarine, creating a risk of explosion.
