Berlin will direct these funds toward purchasing critical military equipment, such as air defense systems, which are not produced in Europe or can be delivered more quickly from the U.S.

Since Russia's invasion, Germany has provided a total of 40 billion euros in military aid to Ukraine.

Earlier, Denmark, Norway, and Sweden also announced $500 million in financial assistance for weapons and ammunition produced in the U.S.
