In the southern part of Spain, in the village of Lanjarón (Granada province), a unique legal restriction has been imposed due to the cemetery running out of space: death has been "officially" banned for the residents. Zamon.uz reported this to Darakchi.uz here.

According to The New York Post, this unusual measure has been in effect since 1999. That year, the only existing cemetery became full, and no new land has been allocated since then.

Lanjarón, a village with nearly 4,000 residents, is famous for its healing mineral waters and has also gained popularity through TikTok. While the local authorities recommend a healthy lifestyle, they have not provided clear information on what measures will be taken in cases of death.

Some analysts consider this decision to be a PR strategy aimed at boosting tourism.
